    • The wife of director John Frankenheimer, she was known for playing a kidnapping victim in ‘Bonnie and Clyde.’

On June 16, Evans Evans passed away. She was 91 when she died, and by time of writing, no official cause of death has been announced. News of her passing came from a public obituary, which shared only that she had died, without elaborating on additional details or history.

Active throughout the ’60s to the ’90s, she was a film actress who famously played a kidnap victim, Velma Davis, in 1967’s Bonnie and Clyde. In 1963, she married drama and suspense director John Frankenheimer and they stayed together until his death in 2002.

The actress was born on November 26, 1932, in Bluefield, West Virginia. She would eventually become a resident of Sherman Oaks, California, after accumulating over two dozen feature film and television projects to her name.

Her filmography spans multiple genres and saw her appear in everything from Gunsmoke to Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone, and Are You Afraid of the Dark? in 1994. She also had an uncredited role in Frankenheimer’s 1966 film Grand Prix.

In addition to a well-rounded film resume, she also was a master of the stage, appearing on Broadway three times throughout the late ’50s and early ’60s. Her stage credits include The Dark at the Top of the Stairs and 1960’s A Distant Bell and The 49th Cousin.

The majority of her film parts were smaller, with Bonnie and Clyde eclipsing most of them, and the biographical crime drama would indeed represent the highlight of her career. But each made a solid impression.

No immediate information on family members who survive the late actress is available, notes Parade.
