A Strategic Move on 'RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 9' Leaves Queens Aghast
By Matthew Huff,
With only four more weeks of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 9 before the finale, the end game is upon us. The frontrunners have been solidified, some girls are on the struggle bus and tensions are definitely mounting. This week two more badges were passed out and the queens acted with RuPaul in scenes inspired by classic movies. Plus, we got a widow-themed runway, a lip sync and the most shocking Ruby Snippers choice yet this season.
After seven weeks, the eight competing queens are getting closer to one being inducted into the Drag Race Hall of Fame and earning $200,000. Unlike every previous season of the show, this time the queens are not competing for themselves. They're competing for a cause. Each of our eight girls have selected a charity and all of their winnings will go to support that good philanthropic work. Also, as with All Stars 7 , no one will be going home this season. Instead, each week the top two queens will earn Benefactress Badges, with the three queens who have the most badges competing against each other in the finale for that crown (and cash).
Each week, the top two queens will also lip sync in order to win a cash tip for their charity AND the ability to "cut off" one of the bottom six queens. That queen will then be ineligible to earn a Badge the following episode even if they win.
Here's everything that went down in Episode 7 of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 9:
Who won Episode 7 of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 9?
Paramount&plus
Angeria Paris VanMichaels
For the second week in a row Angeria has not only earned a Benefactress Badge but has also won the Lip Sync, besting Nina West after taking down Plastique Tiara last week. This is also her third lip sync win of the season, which makes her the clear frontrunner for the win.
Who won Benefactress Badges on Episode 7 of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 9?
Paramount&plus
Angeria Paris VanMichaels & Nina West
Along with Angeria, Nina West also snatched up a Benefactress Badge this week after delivering a solid performance in her parody of Valley of the Dolls with RuPaul. Unfortunately, her lip sync skills weren't quite strong enough to take down Angeria, who is undefeated so far this season.
Who got cut off in Episode 7 of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 9?
Paramount&plus
Gottmik
In what is probably the most shocking move this season to date, Angeria chose not to cut off Plastique Tiara, who has three badges this week, opting to hamper Gottmik instead. With only two badges, Gottmik trailed Angeria, Plastique and Roxxxy Andrews at the time of being cut off and now won't be able to earn a third badge until Episode 9. This may have been a result of Plastique's math theory, which touted it being smarter to chop someone you're tied with who could pass you and swipe your spot in the top three rather than someone ahead of you. If Angeria assumes Plastique and Roxxxy will both make it into the final three, then Gottmik is the most likely player to swipe the third spot. However, this is sure to cause some turmoil in the Werk Room next week given that several other queens are already annoyed with Angeria.
How many Benefactress Badges do the queens of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 9 each have?
After seven episodes the leaderboard stands as follows
Angeria Paris VanMichaels — 3
Plastique Tiara — 3
Roxxxy Andrews — 3
Jorgeous — 2
Nina West — 2
Vanessa Vanjie Mateo — 2
Gottmik — 2 (cut off for Episode 8)
Shannel — 0
Who was eliminated in Episode 7 for RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 9?
Trick question! This is a non-elimination season so no one will be eliminated all of Season 9 unless someone quits, gets disqualified or has to be medically evacuated.
