CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. — A Clinton County juvenile has died following a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning, police said.

According to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, police received a report about an unresponsive 16-year-old on the westbound side of US 421 (Clay Avenue), north of State Road 26, around 2:36 a.m.

Preliminary evidence from the scene suggests that the 16-year-old, later identified as Reese East of Rossville, was walking on the street when a southbound vehicle struck him. The vehicle then left the scene, CCSO said.

Police indicated that Reese’s mother, alongside deputies and first responders, performed life-saving measures. He was then transported in critical condition to an area hospital.

On June 24, the Clinton County Sheriff Department sent an update that Reese was transferred to a hospital in Indianapolis for additional treatment, but has died from his injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation. A suspect for this incident has not yet been named.

Police indicated that they are looking for a vehicle with front-end and passenger-side damage. Those who may have information are encouraged to contact Clinton County Investigators at (765) 659-6394. Their tip line can also be reached at (765) 656-8477.
