Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys turned 82 last Thursday, and his daughter, Carnie, celebrated with a throwback photo accompanied by a short, sweet note that read, “Happy Birthday, Daddy… My love for you is eternal.” Fans joined her in wishing the iconic singer, and many thanked him for making their young adult days.

A few weeks before, Carnie and her sister, Wendy, gave updates about Brian’s health during the world premiere of Disney Plus’ The Beach Boys documentary in Los Angeles. They noted that he is undergoing physical therapy and spending more time with his family.

Brian is currently under the conservatorship of his trusted publicist, Jean Sievers, and manager, LeeAnn Hard, due to a major neurocognitive disorder that has affected his ability to care for himself and make important decisions. All of his seven children, including Carnie, agreed to the conservatorship as it is necessary for his well-being.

Since Brian lost his wife and caretaker, Melinda Ledbetter, in January, it has grown more difficult to live alone, hence the need for the court’s intervention. Their two younger children, Dash Tristan and Dakota Rose, have also been put in the care of Hard and another longtime family friend named Gloria Ramos.

Amid Brian’s debilitating illness, his bandmates are hopeful for a comeback while noting that his condition is not as bad as it seems. Mike Love clarified that his long-term memory is fine as he can recall moments from their high school days and assured fans that his musical abilities have remained just as wonderful.

Bruce Johnston looks forward to a reunion where they all perform together, as he believes a studio session with a piano will give Brian the boost he needs. It has been a busy year so far for the group, with the release of their documentary and first-ever limited edition book, The Beach Boys, which tells their success story in print accompanied by lyrics and chord sheets, photographs, handwritten notes, studio documents, tour posters, and much more.
