Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that J’Shailian Bright, 24, was arrested and charged with attempted to elude a police officer, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana II and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 10:20 p.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Woods Road after observing a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign.

“The officer activated his emergency blue lights and siren,” McMann said. “The driver of the vehicle, later identified as J’Shailian Bright, age 24 of Atmore, refused to stop. After a brief pursuit, Bright stopped at a residence and was taken into custody.”
McMann said when officers began searching the vehicle, they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

“During the search of the vehicle, they discovered a baby bottle containing a green liquid that field tested positive for amphetamines, 2 grams of marijuana and items used for ingesting narcotics,” he said in a release. “Bright also had outstanding warrants with the Atmore Police Department for driving with a suspended driver license, displaying a switched license plate and no proof of automobile insurance.”
Bright was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
