Maine Coons are simultaneously the goofiest and the most chill cats in the world. While they love to play around and have fun, they're equally content to spend some time every day simply hanging around.

On Thursday, June 20th, one pair of Maine Coon cats got to enjoy some chill-time on an epic sunset boat ride. Not only is this the most beautiful thing you'll see all day, but it'll also make you a little jealous:

Fisher the Maine Coon and his little brother Sailor are a serious inspiration to me. I think I need to be a little lazier.

Fisher is the grey cat, and his brother Sailor is the orange one. The two of them spend a lot of time on the water (though, despite being named sailor, no one will let him drive the boat), and they each have special harnesses and lifejackets they wear every time. Fisher has had to battle cancer twice, and now, he'd enjoying his remission time with everyone he loves.

When they're not lounging, Fisher and Sailor are busy being Maine Coons, which essentially just means that they've spent their days being as chaotic as possible. With two big boys, absolutely nothing is off limits!

The Maine Coon Breed Started at Sea

Allegedly, according to everyone trying to make Maine sound magical, the Maine Coon cat breed was conceived when a few longhaired Angoras stowed away on a boat from overseas. The longhaired cats in question are said to have belonged to Marie Antoinette, though there is no proof of any of that.

Other people say that the stowaway mates were actually Norwegian Forest cats, which could also be true; they do look very similar, and Norwegian Forests are bigger than Angoras. It could explain their incredible size. However, honestly, we're not exactly sure what started the breed. All we truly know is there was a cat from somewhere else that mated with standard cats here!

Most likely, stowaway cats did manage to make their way from overseas to Maine (though no one knows exactly what part) and mated with your typical house cat. The breed that people pay thousands per cat for these days started out as strays ; how awesome is that?!

Marie Antoinette's sailor cats or not, everyone loves Maine Coons. Their temperament is remarkable "dog-like," meaning that they're easy to train, eager to try new things, and naturally very curious. If you're looking for a new cat, a Maine Coon is worth looking at!
