‘That Was So Good!’ The View Does Cartwheels Over CNN Dumping Trump Spox Mid-Interview

ABC’s The View was on top of a big media story that happened just hours before their own live broadcast on Monday, and the co-hosts were palpably gleeful.

Earlier on Monday, CNN’s Kasie Hunt cut off an interview with Karoline Leavitt , a spokesperson for former President Donald Trump , when the latter turned the conversation towards an attack on Hunt’s colleagues, CNN’s Dana Bash and Jake Tapper , who are moderating the first presidential debate. Hunt wouldn’t stand for the talking points and abruptly ended the interview.

After playing the moment, co-host Whoopi Goldberg had what can only be described as a Cheshire Cat grin on her face before finally saying, “That was so good!”

The rest of the co-hosts, including Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin , who are both CNN contributors, agreed that Leavitt went outside the realm of the topic at hand just so she could attack the moderators. Farah Griffin said Leavitt’s appearance “underscored a stunning lack of message discipline”:

You are a campaign spokesperson. You should be there to talk about what’s Donald Trump’s proactive agenda for the American people? How does he want to build the middle class or secure the border? But she can’t. It’s grievance. It’s rage. It’s retribution. It’s the same thing that he suffers from. And honestly, this may be hard for us to believe there are undecided voters who watch CNN. These are people who are going to determine this election. You’re not winning any of them over by going after one of their most popular anchors repeatedly and not focusing on what matters to the American people.

Navarro even called Trump’s surrogates “chicken” because of the mixed messaging ahead of the debate:

First, they told us he was decrepit. He was not going to be able to stand there for 90 minutes. He was senile. He’s lost. He’s this, he’s that. Then they realize, oh, you know what? It’s really stupid of us to be lowering the expectations. So then Trump came out and said [President] Joe Biden was on cocaine, right? “He was jacked up during the State of the Union. Whatever they gave him, I want a drug test. I want him drug tested because he was too jacked up and that’s not normal.” Then I heard him say “He’s a really good debater, Joe Biden. I saw him beat the pants out of Paul Ryan in that debate.” They don’t know — and now, they’re saying the debate is rigged, and the interviewers are biased. You know what it sounds to me? Sounds like people who call folks snowflakes are snowflakey. Sounds to me like somebody is running a little scared — chicken, chicken, chicken.
