Thousands without power in the Southern Tier

SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. ( WETM ) – Thousands of NYSEG customers in the Southern Tier are without power due to windy conditions today.

According to the NYSEG outage list , over 10,000 customers are without power in the Southern Tier. This includes customers in Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins and Yates counties. Most of the outages are occurring in Tompkins County, specifically in the Dryden area, with 2,163. The Town of Horseheads comes second for the most outages, with 1,027.

Customers without power total 2,379 in Chemung County, 664 in Schuyler County, 200 in Steuben County, 2,750 in Tioga County, 4,610 in Tompkins County and 45 in Yates County at the time of publishing.

At this time, NYSEG has not provided a restoration time for the areas without power. 18 News will update the story when power is restored.
