Amanda Balionis, the golf presenter, has praised Scottie Scheffler and his wife on Instagram for their relationship.

The presenter - who has sparked headlines for her "flirty" interviews with Rory McIlroy - was covering the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands last weekend for CBS Sport, where world No. 1 Scheffler continued his impressive run of success.

Scheffler clinched his sixth PGA Tour event of the year in a playoff against Tom Kim after both players finished on -22 on Sunday.

After his victory, Scheffler stepped off the course to join his wife Meredith and their baby Bennett. The 28-year-old spoke to Balionis while cradling six-week-old Bennett in his arms.

Balionis shared a photo of her interviewing Scheffler with his son nestled in his arms on her Instagram, reports the Mirror US .

"Today, @scottie.scheffler becomes the first player since Arnold Palmer in 1962 (! ! ) to win SIX times before July 1st," she wrote. "His bounce back ability-from a disappointing week last week, and the unexpected events on the 72nd hole- continues to be the standard. To watch Scottie's pure joy the moment he steps off the course to celebrate with Bennett and @meredithscheffler is one of the cooler things we get to witness this season. World Number 1 does it again."

Scheffler sailed to a win at the Masters in April, though it was touch-and-go whether he'd show with his wife Meredith close to giving birth. He vowed to exit the tourney if she went into labour, but as luck had it, baby Bennett arrived the next month, post his triumph at Augusta.

The world's top golfer remained unflustered on the green despite the final round's disruption when six climate activists stormed the 18th green just as the final putts were being set up.

The protesters, who released smoke bombs and scattered powder on the green, sported tees proclaiming: "No golf on a dead planet". They were apprehended by the authorities amidst 'USA' chants from spectators as they were escorted off.

Scheffler confessed that beating his mate Kim was mixed emotions. "It's fun competing against your friends," Scheffler remarked.

"But at the same time, it's difficult. Because part of me wants him to miss the putt and part of me wants him to make the putt. ... But he should remember that putt he made on 18, because it was pretty special. And he's a great player and a great champion."

Balionis was back on scene amid whispers about her and Rory McIlroy during his brief split from spouse Erica Stoll. The pair called off their divorce ahead of the recent U.S. Open.
