Kenny Chesney Pens 'Very Hard Goodbye' to Good Friend in Emotional Post

Kenny Chesney lost a close friend recently, with the country icon sharing some memories and a sweet message to pay tribute.

The 56-year-old began his kind tribute on Instagram by saying, "So a very hard goodbye to a close island friend, Curtney Chinnery AKA 'The Ghost From Jost,'" with the first photo showing Chinnery pointing at the sky while standing on the beach with bright blue waters behind him.

Chesney wrote of his late friend, "He was so curious and full of imagination and one of the most creative human beings I’ve ever met. That’s how we connected. Creativity."

"He was a poet among poets and I’m gonna miss him for so many reasons. So goodbye my brother and thank you for your friendship and all the laughs," he went on, before adding what appeared to be Chinnery's slogan, “GHOST OUT.”

In the rest of the photos, Chinnery showed off bright smiles as he posed for snaps and spent time with Chesney, with the two appearing to have a close bond.

Although Chesney shared no further background information, it seemed like the two met on the small island of Jost Van Dyke Island, which sits only a few miles from St. John, where Chesney has had a home for years.

Fans joined in paying tribute to Chinnery, with kind words like, "A truly unique and beautiful soul ❤️‍🩹," and "3rd pic omg.. that smile 😁 such an icon."

"Such a good soul," a third chimed in, as quite a few shared their own memories of the late friend, such as one who said, "What a gift of creativity he had and always brought a smile to my face…"

While Chesney appears to spend a lot of time enjoying life on the island, he is also still busy with his music . The singer is currently in the middle of his Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour , which is set to finish in late August.
