BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a heartbreaking accident took place on Monday, June 24, 2024, at around 3:03 PM on US-1 (State Road 5) and 1st Street, resulting in the death of an elderly man from Barefoot Bay.

The incident involved three vehicles: a van, a truck tractor, and a pickup truck. The 1999 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, driven by an 81-year-old man, was heading southbound on US-1 when it suddenly crossed the median into oncoming traffic. The elderly driver of the van was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt, but his name is being withheld until his family can be notified.

The driver of the cement truck, a 57-year-old man from Lake Worth, sustained minor injuries and was also wearing a seatbelt.
