SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – For nearly 35 years Trevor Hall served in the Army.
Half of that time, his role was a 19-Delta, Calvary Scout.

“You maneuver around, try to be secretive, not be seen and then just report any type of activity back to hire,” Hall said. “So that they can better dictate what to do.”

For the other 15 years, Hall served as a nurse.

“I saw it probably as an improvement for myself and family for when I retire,” Hall explained. “You saw people as they age in areas of like reconnaissance, infantry, in the combat arms side it ages you quite a bit. Working in a hospital is much nicer, easier, I should say.”

Hall served two tours in Germany and deployed to the Middle East for the Persian Gulf War.

“I’ve had four mobilizations with the Reserves and then two with the active duty Army side,” said Hall.

In 2006, Hall changed his job.

“At the time when I was in nursing school, it was in the mid-nineties. So not a whole lot was going on. The military was downsizing,” he explained. “And I found it a nice way to make a little extra money ’cause when I went to the Reserves for my drill, it was in a hospital unit. I just studied.”

Hall served as a Reserve Nurse from 2007 to 2011, where his resume and experience were lengthy.

“Did travel nursing for state facilities for probably a few years, worked in alcohol, drug rehab, inpatient facilities for a period,” Hall told 7NEWS.

That transitioned to working in the inpatient behavioral ward at the hospital at Fort Liberty.

“I went from there to command a medical detachment for medical recruiting for the Army out in Colorado for a couple of years, and then from there I went to Fort Crevasse,” said Hall.

Veterans now turn to Hall to receive guidance on the help they need.

“Orthopedic issues, PTSD TBI, the traumatic brain injuries,” Hall said. “Those would be the big three, primarily. Probably PTSD and TBI because of my background with behavioral health.”

Hall still works with the military today.

“I work with Reserve soldiers getting them connected to care,” Hall said. “If they, if they wish for assistance.”

Hall said his goals include making veterans more aware of the work he does.

“Just hoping that more and more people in the Reserves get to know that we’re here,” Hall said. “Because they need it a lot and they have no idea we even exist.”
