( KLFY ) — The National Hurricane Center continues to track a tropical wave moving through the Caribbean Sea and a second wave in the eastern Atlantic Ocean. A third and weaker tropical wave is being monitored even further east in the Atlantic but has a very low chance for development.

Showers and thunderstorm activity associated with the wave in the Caribbean Sea remains disorganized this morning as it progresses westward towards the Yucatan Peninsula.

There is a low chance of a tropical depression or stronger forming in the next 2 to 5 days as this wave moves into the Bay of Campeche this weekend.

Any system that could form would stay well south of Louisiana and keep impacts minimal to the U.S. Gulf Coast.

A more robust tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic Ocean continues to show more signs of organization today. This wave has a 90% chance for tropical development in the next 2 to 7 days as it moves westward towards the Caribbean Sea.

The Atlantic tropical wave has been designated as “Invest 95-L”. Tropical models are consistent with the due west track into Caribbean Sea early next week. This could become Beryl this weekend and eventually strengthen into the first hurricane of the season. It is far too early to know if any impacts will happen across the U.S. or Gulf Coast but this disturbance will have our full attention. As of now, the models keep it well south of Louisiana, but a lot can change over the next 10 days. Global models are showcasing a strong area of high pressure aloft over Louisiana, so that should keep impacts well south of the area.

The next names on the list are Beryl and Chris.
