A suspect that was arrested in Boulder County, Colorado has been accused of starting a wildfire with fireworks.

The 21-year-old male was taken into custody for second-degree arson on Monday evening after authorities responded to a small but active wildland fire at Gregory Canyon near the base of Flagstaff Road.

A crew led by City of Boulder Fire-Rescue was able to stop the spreading fire, limiting its size to an area that measured about 100 feet by 100 feet.

The suspect's name and photograph haven't been released pending additional investigation.

The area of Flagstaff Road near the fire was briefly closed during the incident.

Authorities reminded the public of fire risks and advised the public not to use fireworks, many of which are illegal in Colorado.
