    Plane makes emergency landing near Jackson, Smith County line

    SMITH COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A single-engine plane made an emergency landing Tuesday morning near the Jackson and Smith County line.

    According to Jackson County EMS, the plane landed near the Smith County line just before 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25.

    First responders said the plane was traveling to Ohio from Murfreesboro when it experienced engine problems.

    A flight emergency was declared to the Memphis air traffic control tower prompting them to subsequently contact Jackson County 911, officials said.

    Personnel from Jackson, Smith, and Macon counties were reportedly sent to the area to locate the plane.

    Jackson County 911 dispatchers said they found the plane off Salt Lick Creek Road around 10 a.m. after using GPS coordinates.

    Deputies said the pilot and passenger of the plane were not injured in the incident. News 2 has a crew heading to the scene to learn more.
