Rory McIlory set to make massive sum shortly after drastic divorce U-turn

Rory McIlroy stands to make a massive amount for his new gold league , it's been announced, just a few weeks after the sportsman's drastic U-turn on his divorce from wife Erica Stoll .

McIlroy - who is reported to have an enormous net worth - co-founded the TGL with Tiger Woods .

The pair launched TGL in 2022 as a tech-forward alternative following the emergence of LIV. Initially set for an early 2024 debut, the simulator-based league's start was delayed until 2025 due to venue complications in Florida . This indoor competition will see PGA Tour stars battle it out in a high-tech arena, forming six teams, with McIlroy and Woods not only participating but also leading their own four-man squads.

Despite news emerging of a surprise split in May just before the PGA Championship kicked off, McIlroy and Stoll have had a rethink. McIlroy confirmed that the pair are giving their marriage another shot . The two have been married for seven years and have a three year old daughter named Poppy.

McIlroy shared: "There have been rumours about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate. Responding to each rumour is a fool's game. Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realised that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning."

Following Rory's move to start legal proceedings, Stoll had 20 days under Florida law to answer back. According to documents filed on May 13, private investigator Carl Woods, a former police officer in Palm Beach County since 1987, served the divorce papers to Stoll at the McIlroy family home in The Bear's Club at 10.30am.

During his temporary split with his wife, there were speculations about an association between McIlroy and CBS sports reporter, Amanda Balionis .

McIlroy planned to take a break from golfing to spend quality time with his family, and he's slated to make a comeback just before The Open at Royal Troon next month. He will also keep busy a new business venture with Tiger Woods is set to launch later this year
