Frozen Texas Roadhouse rolls to hit Ohio Walmart shelves

COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — Texas Roadhouse has confirmed its famous mini rolls will be available in the grocery freezer aisle after online rumors swirled about the announcement.
In an email to Nexstar’s WCMH, the chain’s public relations team said an “8-week test” is being conducted in Indiana, Kentucky and “parts” of Ohio at Walmart stores.
“There are 80 stores in Ohio that will be participating in the test, mainly in Eastern and Central Ohio,” the email stated. “The on-shelf date is scheduled for June 29; however, some Walmart stores went ahead and placed the product on shelves which is causing quite the stir on social media!”
The Roadhouse team acknowledged that the rolls are always best freshly baked in the restaurant, but the frozen version is a tasty option.
“The mini rolls product is inspired by our world-famous made-from-scratch rolls and contains a honey cinnamon glaze,” Roadhouse said. “Nothing beats the fresh baked bread we make in our restaurants daily; however, we’re excited for our guests to have an inspired-by product available to them to make at home.”
A handful of foodie influencers echoed the restaurant’s statement previous to the company’s affirmation.

On Instagram, Markie Devo, the self-proclaimed “Willy freaking Wonka of Brooklyn,” posted an image of the alleged package in which the rolls will be sold.
“Texas Roadhouse Mini Rolls feature 12 mini rolls in a ready-to-bake pan,” Devo wrote in the caption. “The rolls have a very similar taste, aroma, and texture to the restaurant rolls. They also come with signature Honey Cinnamon Glaze, similar to the restaurant version.”
The photo showed a picture of rolls on the front of the package along with the Texas Roadhouse logo. An image of the back of the package displayed instructions with photos for baking the rolls at home.
“Inspired by Texas Roadhouse’s made-from-scratch bread, the mini rolls are a nod to our legendary recipe,” the package message reads. “Paired with a mouth-watering honey and cinnamon glaze, simply bake the ready-to-heat pan for a legendary experience that’s downright delicious.”
“📍The rolls will be Walmart exclusive starting June 29th,” Devo wrote. “As of now they’ll be in 3 test states-Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky(total of 212 locations).👀”
Tik Tok “food news” creator snachwithzach offered a similar post on his account in video form.
“I’m inclined to believe that given the release of the steak sauce and the gold sauce nationwide that if these do well in the test market, they will not only be available at Walmart, I can’t see them doing a product as big as the rolls and the exclusive capacity, but I’m speculating,” said snachwithzach in the video. “If all goes according to plan, we could very well see these things go nationwide within the next year or so.”
The rolls have a cult-like following with several sites and posts online offering “dupe” recipes and alternate products to get the flavor of the rolls and glaze at home.
