General Hospital fans' two-word reaction to Jonathan Jackson's return as Lucky Spencer

After much speculation and teasing, General Hospital show producers confirmed that Jonathan Jackson is returning to Port Charles , and fans had some choice words about his character.

The actor is set to reprise his role as Lucky Spencer which could throw a major curveball into the current storylines. Last we heard from Lucky, he made a brief appearance in 2015 when the writers were exploring Luke Spencer's exit from the role. Otherwise, since 2013, he was believed to be in Africa doing volunteer work following his time in Ireland.

Executive producer Frank Valentini previously told ABC7 at the Daytime Emmy Awards : "A former cast member is coming back and I think that the audience will go crazy for him."

Frank was right as fans are dripping with excitement and curiosity, even if some of it isn't quite favorable to his character. After all, they've all pretty much called Lucky a "deadbeat dad" and aren't convinced that his humanitarian work changed him at all, but they'll need to wait and see.

Before Jonathan's 2011 exit from the show, Lucky had went to Ireland, but was later told that his son, Aiden, was in the hospital. Once Lucky finds out that things aren't quite as bad as they seemed, he goes back to Ireland, leaving his son behind once again. Since then, Aiden has grown up a lot and now might have the chance to confront his dad. A fan pleaded on X, formerly known as Twitter: "We had better get Aiden reading Lucky for filth. 2024 needs to be the year of deadbeat dads getting dragged."

Although they agreed that Lucky's parenting skills could use some work, a lot of fans were still excited. One said: "Okay, I am VERY sorry cause I see y'all are NOT with this but me? THIS is MY Lucky right here! Is he a deadbeat? Yes. Big time. But will he ACT his f------ a-- off as a hopefully remorseful deadbeat? YES. And he LOVES Liz. Now THIS is a RETURN."

One fan was worried that the writers won't be taking the reprisal seriously. They wrote: "My only concern with Lucky return is these writers aren’t gonna put in the work needed to rehabilitate the character. Man been a dead beat for years and he was pretty crappy to Liz. Can’t cut corners and expedite people forgiving him."
