King Charles and Queen Camilla Pose in Stunning New Portrait—But It Looks Awfully Familiar

After I first laid eyes on a newly released portrait of King Charles , 75, and his wife, Queen Camilla , 76, posing next to the Emperor and Empress of Japan , I felt a sudden wave of déjà vu.

Before this evening’s State Banquet dinner at Buckingham Palace, the photo was shared on the royal family’s official Instagram page . While standing in a palace doorway, His and Her Majesty are standing next to Emperor Naruhito and his wife Empress Masako of Japan.

In the stunning photo, King Charles is donning a black suit and Queen Camilla is wearing a gorgeous white dress with a tiara on her head. The caption read, “The King and Queen with The Emperor and Empress of Japan ahead of tonight’s State Banquet at Buckingham Palace.”

Still, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this portrait looked awfully familiar. And that’s when it hit me: This new portrait of the king and queen reminds me of the striking photo that was released before last year’s Diplomatic Reception, where they posed alongside Prince William and Kate Middleton .

Meanwhile, Queen Camilla wore a beautiful white gown while Princess Catherine shone bright in a pink sequin gown designed by Jenny Packham with the Lover’s Knot Tiara (a personal fave of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana). Also, the Princess of Wales donned the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order star and sash across the bodice of her dress.
