HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The second brush fire in Henrico County in just as many days burned through two acres of land Tuesday afternoon.

At about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, crews with the Henrico County Division of Fire were dispatched to a reported brush fire next to the railroad tracks near Old Washington Highway and Interstate 295.

The brush fire was slow-moving and covered about two acres. It was contained by about 5:13 p.m., according to fire officials. At this time, the cause of the brush fire is not known.

On Monday, a large brush fire razed a wheat field near New Market Road and Messer Road, close to Varina High School. A total of 70 acres were damaged and several homes had their fences and driveways affected. Fire officials told 8News that this Monday evening brush fire was accidental, having spread from a resident’s controlled burn.
