Ford issued a recall Tuesday for 668,000 pickup trucks due to reports of them unexpectedly downshifting into the first gear, causing drivers to lose control of the rear wheels.

The recall is being applied to 2014 F-150s, affecting 552,000 just in the United States. There have been 300 warranty reports, 96 field reports, and 124 customer complaints regarding the pickups' downshifting. At least two injury reports and one crash may have been related to the issue.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the downward shifting will occur regardless of the driver's speed.
