Mike Perry Recalls Sparring Session With Jake Paul In Front Of His Team: 'Those Cheers Kind Of Died Down'

Mike Perry has replaced Mike Tyson to fight Jake Paul on July 20. Paul vs. Tyson is now rescheduled for November 15 , and fans seem delighted that "The Problem Child" is taking on a tough opponent like Perry in the meantime.

Since his first professional loss to Tommy Fury, Paul has racked up three wins. These include a notable decision over Nate Diaz and two first-round KOs over journeyman boxers.

Perry, on the flip side, holds the title of "King of Violence" in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. He's arguably in the best stage of his career with five consecutive wins over several high-profile opponents. These include Eddie Alvarez, Michael "Venom" Page, and Luke Rockhold, among others.

Interestingly, Paul and Perry have already sparred a few years ago. Although many fans of the YouTuber recall the session as one-sided, here's what "Platinum" had to say about it.

Mike Perry Reveals How He Shut Down Jake Paul's Team During Sparring Session

Perry recently appeared on the Morning Kombat YouTube channel for an interview with Luke Thomas and Brian Campbell. When asked about the narrative that Paul got the better of him in the sparring session, Perry admitted to eating a few good shots from the YouTuber-turned-boxer.

However, he clarified that Paul's 'sniper shots' didn't bother him much. He also highlighted that he attended the sparring with his wife and toddler. Paul, on the other hand, had his entire team that was cheering whenever he landed.

Despite Paul's powerful shots, Perry claims to have walked through them and increased the pressure that he put on him.

"He hit me with a couple sniper shots, in the like, in the second, and maybe the third. But, I took those quite well. His team was all there cheering. I had my son, who was maybe, few months old at the time...my wife was there. That's who I went to the gym. Jake had all his people there, some security or whatever.

"They were cheering for him a little bit but then those cheers kind of died down, after he hit me with a couple of those sniper shots and I kept putting the pressure on him and I just get angrier and angrier if you hit me."

As per "Platinum," he sparred with Paul ahead of his fight with Daniel Rodriguez at the UFC Apex in April 2021. "The Problem Child" was walking around 195 pounds, while Perry remembers being close to 179 pounds.

With the weight disparity removed, will Mike's relentless pressure be too much for Paul to handle or will the YouTuber register another win over a former MMA fighter?
