Webb City Hosts Youth Offensive Skills Camp for Future Cardinals

WEBB CITY, MO — Despite another hot day, that didn’t stop Webb City Football from hosting their Offensive Skills Camp for some young future Cardinals.

The camp was run by Webb City Head Coach Ryan McFarland and his staff along with current Webb City Football players.

The camp started today and will wrap up tomorrow. It is for grades 3rd through 8th.

This camp is for Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Tight Ends and Wide Receivers that all came out to learn different drills and techniques.

Different drills that the campers went through included; catching, hand-offs, ball security, while the older kids started to work their way into how the varsity guys run their offense.

We caught up with Coach McFarland and one of his seniors as well as a couple of campers about the camp and how all participants and players are interacting and learning from one another.

Head Coach Ryan McFarland said, “Gives our older guys a chance to teach, teach the skills that they know to our young guys. And, if you go back five years ago, our older guys were these young guys at camps that were getting taught by guys that came before them. So it’s just the legacy of the program that we keep getting passed down to generation to generation”.

8th Grade Camper Turner Doennig said, “They teach you a lot and it’s good stuff too. So it’ll help you in a couple in situations in a game”.

8th Grade Camper Brayton Robinson said, “Yeah, I’m hoping they can teach me some stuff to do, so I can improve my game”.

Senior Running Back Andrew Elwell said, “You know, and take what we know and what we learn from, you know, when we were their age what we know now as varsity guys”.
