Billy Ray Cyrus denies Firerose’s abuse allegations, claims she was ‘physically,’ emotionally and verbally abusive

Billy Ray Cyrus is fighting against estranged wife Firerose’s “mind-boggling” abuse allegations, claiming that it was the other way around.

In a June 24 filing, Cyrus “vehemently denied” Firerose’s claims that she endured “extreme” domestic abuse during their marriage and insisted that she provide “strict proof” to support her allegations.

In the documents, obtained by Page Six, the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer claimed he was “not only verbally and emotionally” abused by his ex but “physically” as well.

While Cyrus admitted to being “vocal, frustrated and angry” during an argument in May 2024, he alleged in the docs that it was he “who, in fact, has been abused.”

Cyrus claimed the alleged apology note left by Firerose following their split proves his case. In the “handwritten note,” the “Time” singer allegedly told Cyrus she was “so sorry” and wanted “a chance to make this right.”

The documents also included an affidavit from Cyrus’ manager, Scott Adkins, who claimed to have witnessed Firerose, whose real name is Johanna Rosie Hodges, being abusive towards his client.

The country star, 62, claimed that Firerose, 35, threatened to ruin his career if he tried to divorce her by telling the public the reason for their split was because she got a double mastectomy.

Cyrus alleged that he and the Australian musician got into an argument in May 2024, right before he filed for divorce, while at the doctor’s office ahead of her “elective” surgery.

The “Hannah Montana” star claimed the doctor “was having a hard time understanding what her actual last name was,” leading Cyrus to learn that she “lied” about her name to “induce marriage.”

Cyrus “also believes there are additional things in her background that she is hiding from him” as she has previously “refused to give any substantive details about her past.”

Due to this, the country singer also denied his ex’s claims that she was “ambushed” by his divorce filing.

Reps for Firerose did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment. Meanwhile, Cyrus’ reps had no comment.

A source, however, slammed Cyrus, telling Page Six, “His story keeps evolving and this filing is simply another abusive tactic to distract away from the serious, true allegations brought against him, backed by an abundance of evidence. The only individuals supporting his false claims are those on his payroll, whose credibility is questionable.”

They also claimed that his “audacity to question a BRCA-positive woman’s decision” to undergo a double mastectomy as a preventative measure “shows the kind of cruel manipulation Firerose was subjected to.”

The source continued, “What Billy Ray fails to recognize is when you have a decades-long history of emotional and psychological abuse, people start to take notice. The truth will come to light.”

In a June 14 filing, Firerose claimed Cyrus had a history of “unpredictable and volatile” behavior often spurred by his “persistent drug use accompanied with the consumption of marijuana.”

The “Plans” singer said she “walked on eggshells” around their home was “afraid to leave or seek any type of help” out of fear it would impact her “major surgery.”

Cyrus quietly filed for divorce from Firerose in late May after seven months of marriage.

At the time, Cyrus cited irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct as the reason for their split. He also asked the judge for an annulment on the grounds of fraud.

Soon after, he accused his estranged wife of charging $96,986.05 onto his credit card during a two-week span after their split.

Cyrus requested that she pay him back and also filed for an emergency restraining order.

However, Firerose shot back saying she has always had access to her estranged husband’s credit cards and was still allowed to access their marital money since they were still legally married.

Despite that, she did admit that her legal team mistakenly charged the card $45,000, which was fully refunded.
