    One month after deadly tornadoes in Northwest Arkansas

    FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Memorial Day Weekend 2024 was spent as recovery and cleanup for thousands of Arkansans across the state from Benton to Marion County as 15 tornadoes destroyed homes, businesses and memories.

    Eight Arkansans died due to the storm or storm-related deaths. Three in Benton County.

    This morning, our team is revisiting areas in Northwest Arkansas that were damaged and giving the latest updates from officials on how recovery has been in the last month.

    The video above details the two confirmed tornadoes that struck the small town of Decatur.

    According to the National Weather Services, 1 5 tornadoes from EF0 to EF3 cycled through Greene, Madison, Randolph, Benton, Marion, Baxter, Fulton, and Boone County.

    Rogers is moving out of emergency phases. Rogers Mayor Greg Hines said people should spend time with their loved ones this July 4 weekend and enjoy time together.

    “Our emotions are not going to go away. and the worst thing you can do is to continue to just deny them. So, I would just encourage everyone in Northwest Arkansas that was affected by this to lean on their loved ones, get some rest over the next week or and we’ll get back at it after that.” said Hines.
