LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. — A South Bend woman is facing serious charges after allegedly smuggling marijuana into the Indiana State Prison on Michigan City's west side. According to court documents, 38-year-old Janise Clark was apprehended on Sunday while reporting for her shift as a correctional officer. A fellow staff member noticed her plastic-wrapped sandwich looked suspicious, prompting further inspection. When the sandwich was placed in an X-Ray machine, it revealed two vacuum-sealed plastic bags containing nearly a half pound of marijuana hidden between the slices of bread.

Court documents show that Brinson Jr. was taken into custody on March 4, 2024, on one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. A copy of the arrest warrant states that Brinson Jr. was in possession of a firearm that night between 8:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at a residence on MLK Drive.
