Wake-Up Weather: heat dome holds a tight grip on the state of Texas this week

Summary: Heat dome continues to build for the big country. Temperatures into the triple digits will give way to heat index values falling under heat advisory and excessive heat warning criteria. Make sure you are taking frequent breaks, staying hydrated to prevent a stretch of cramps and headaches due to a high pressure ridge. Heat index values in Knox county could climb as high as 115°. Heat index values will top out at 108° for those under a heat advisory. Temperatures will be on a triple digit train up ahead as we close out June with temperatures staying shy of the records, for now. A small chance of showers will be possible, mostly in our norther counties into tomorrow as the high pressure pushes west.
