Former USA soccer star Maurice Edu has joined a prestigious list of investors supporting a new company co-founded by golfing greats Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods. The company, TMRW Sports, is gearing up to launch a tech-driven golf league next year and has been drawing attention from some of the biggest names in global sports.

Among those already backing the venture are NBA superstar Steph Curry, tennis legend Serena Williams, and seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton. Other notable backers include Andy Murray, Gareth Bale, Justin Timberlake, and pop sensation Justin Bieber.

It's also been revealed that ex-Chelsea soccer captain John Terry is throwing his support behind McIlroy's venture, with both his and Edu's names appearing in the latest investment round. They join a group of 'cultural icons' supporting the company, including Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and former US soccer star Jozy Altidore.

TMRW Sports was launched in 2022 by McIlroy and Woods, along with fellow co-founder Mike McCarley, and has already been valued at $500 million ahead of the TGL's debut next January. One of its first ventures will be the TGL, a new golf competition set to run in partnership with the PGA Tour.

The TGL is set to revolutionize the golfing world by bringing together top players in a team format on a virtual green. Originally slated for launch this year, the event has been postponed due to damage at the Florida venue caused by a power outage, reports Belfast Live .

The incident resulted in harm to the air-supported dome at the site. Golf icons Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods are among the 24 PGA Tour pros who've committed to the innovative team competition, which will take place at the specially constructed SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

TMRW Sports' CEO McCarley, reflecting on the fresh wave of funding, remarked: "As momentum has built for TMRW Sports' vision to create modern media approaches to sports, we're humbled by the enthusiasm within the investment community to support our efforts."
