HAMILTON, Ga. ( WRBL ) — The same day as the retirement tribute for former Harris County School District (HCSD) Superintendent Roger D. Couch, a new superintendent was sworn in.

Probate Judge Thomas Lakes conducted a swearing-in ceremony for Dr. Justin M. Finney on Wednesday, making his appointment as new superintendent of HCSD official.

According to HCSD, Finney’s 24 year career in education began as assistant principal at Harris County Carver Middle School in 2007, and he later served as principal of Mulberry Creek Elementary from 2010 to 2018. Finney then advanced to HCSD assistant superintendent in 2018 under the leadership of former Superintendent Couch.

Finney expressed gratitude for the opportunity and underscored his commitment to advancing HCSD’s educational excellence.
