    Mandatory evacuation issued for Missouri Lakes neighborhood for Gilpin County fire

    DENVER (KDVR) — The Missouri Lakes No. 1 subdivision was subject to a mandatory evacuation Wednesday for a fire in Gilpin County , according to the sheriff’s office.

    As of about 11:30 a.m., the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office was reporting a fire in the Missouri Lakes 1 subdivision that was approximately an acre in size. As of noon, the sheriff’s office said the fire’s forward spread had been stopped and was at 60% containment.

    All residents in the subdivision were told to evacuate immediately to the Gilpin County Recreation Center when the fire was first reported. The evacuation notice was still in place while fire crews were still working in the neighborhood.

    Pre-evacuation notices were initially in place for the Lake View Subdivision, Paradise Valley, Fox Tail Circle and Drive, Lodge Pole Lane and Juniper Road, but had been lifted as of noon.
