Wright addressed whether or not she would return to the MCU as Shuri, saying, “There’s a lot coming up.”
Wright made the comment shortly after being asked if a third Black Panther movie was in the works while appearing on The View, via Entertainment Weekly . She also said, “If it’s, uh, let’s just say, let’s just say…I would like to continue with Shuri. She’s one of my favorite characters, such a blessing, honestly, I kid you not. I’m so grateful for her.”
What MCU movies has Letitia Wright’s Black Panther character been in?
Wright’s Shuri officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2018’s Black Panther, which was directed by Ryan Coogler and also starred Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, and Lupita Nyong’o.
She reprised the role in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, and 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever , the latter of which saw her take on the mantle of the titular hero.
There’s been no official announcement from Marvel Studios as to whether or not a third Black Panther movie is happening; however, Wright told Variety in January 2023 that she “think[s] it’s already in the works.”
In the meantime, Marvel is developing an animated Eyes of Wakanda series that is expected to premiere sometime in 2024.
“Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts,” the synopsis for the series reads. “This is their story.”
Up next for Marvel Studios’ theatrical releases is July 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine. After that comes Captain America: Brave New World (February 14, 2025), Thunderbolts* (May 5, 2025), The Fantastic Four (July 25, 2025), Blade (November 7, 2025), Avengers 5 (May 1, 2026), and Avengers: Secret Wars (May 7, 2027).
Both Black Panther movies are both streaming on Disney+.
