Local man fatally shoots his son: Police

OLMSTED TOWNSHIP , Ohio (WJW) – Charges are pending after police report a man in Olmsted Township fatally shot his 29-year-old son.

According to a press release from police, the father, 63, said his son was attacking him with a baseball bat and he shot his son in the chest.

The incident took place shortly after 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, at a residence on Homestead Drive.

Police said when they arrived at the scene, they met with the father outside of the home and found the son with a gunshot wound to the chest. Paramedics entered the house, attempted life-saving measures and transported the victim to the hospital where he later died, according to the release.

Police report charges are pending.

This case remains under investigation. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting.
