Over a decade into her solo career, Tinashe has had one of her biggest breakthroughs yet, with recent single “Nasty,” which became her first charting hit since 2014’s “2 On” after going viral on TikTok (you may know it as the “Is somebody gonna match my freak?” song). Now she announced her next album, Quantum Baby, featuring both “Nasty” and her just-released new single “Getting No Sleep.” It was produced by and co-written with Nosaj Thing and Billy Lemos, and it’s a bass-heavy, airy R&B song that sounds like classic Tinashe and makes for a great followup to “Nasty.” Check it out below. The 2024 edition of Glastonbury festival is underway on Worthy Farm and among Friday’s performers was Paul Heaton of The Housemartins and The Beautiful South who was playing the Pyramid Stage. Lesser Halves is a new Portland, OR band with some familiar faces: members of classic Topshelf Records bands Caravels and Duck. Little Brother, Duck!, as well as U SCO and Softskills. Their debut LP The Gold, the Rush, the Rot, the Rust was recorded by Evan Mersky and mixed and mastered by Jack Shirley, it comes out next week (July 5), and two songs are out now, “2 x 2” and “Private Jest.” Across these two songs, they mix angular, guitar-fueled indie rock with sunny power pop vocals, and the results are pretty cool. The Aurora City Council will hold a public hearing Monday on whether to allow cannabis dispensaries to stay open until midnight. State law allows marijuana dispensaries to stay open until midnight, but some jurisdictions such as Aurora shortened hours to 10 p.m. Council member Curtis Gardner has brought forth the ordinance to lengthen the hours.

A message from organizers on Facebook reads, “Sunday is no longer an option. We fought. We wrestled with obstacle after obstacle. We became a target. We became hated, even when we were doing our best to save something and give you the best show possible. No one sees the sacrifice. All they do is judge. We did everything we could. Kinky Friedman, the Texas iconoclast whose credits included musician, author, humorist and gubernatorial candidate, died this week from complications with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 79. The news came via his official X/Twitter account: “Kinky Friedman stepped on a rainbow at his beloved Echo Hill surrounded by family & friends. Kinkster endured tremendous pain & unthinkable loss in recent years but he never lost his fighting spirit and quick wit. Kinky will live on as his books are read and his songs are sung.”
