Garden focaccia recipe 🌸🌿🌼🌷🐝 Ingredients * 2 cups warm water (110ºF) divided into two bowls * 1 T granulated sugar * 7 grams active dry yeast * 1/4 cup olive oil * 1 tsp salt * 1 T flakey salt * 5 cups spooned and leveled of bread flour or all-purpose flour * 1/2 cup olive oil for the pan and for drizzling on top of the focaccia after rising * 2 T fresh rosemary chopped * Veggies, herbs & meats for topping Instructions * Combine first cup of warm water with yeast & sugar. Mix to combine. Set aside for ~5 mins / until it looks foamy * Place water/yeast mixture in bowl of stand mixer with bread hook attached * Add in ~1 cup of flour and mix on low until combined * Add in rest of water, olive oil, salt and half of the remaining flour. Mix on low until combined * Continue adding flour while mixing on low until dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl. If it's still too sticky, add in a couple more T of flour until it comes together * Keep mixing on low until dough develops enough gluten that when you touch it, it bounces back * Place dough into a bowl with ~ a Tablespoon of olive oil. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until it has doubled in size. If you're using active dry yeast, it may take longer to proof to double * Pour olive oil into a 12"x17" sheet pan so there is a thin layer of oil covering the entire bottom of pan * Put some olive oil on your hands to prevent sticking and pull the focaccia dough out of the bowl. It will be very loose. Lay it in the pan and begin stretching it * Cover with plastic wrap and place in fridge overnight to develop flavor * Take bread out of fridge and let it warm for 30 minutes before baking. Dimple surface with oiled fingers * Drizzle a good amount olive oil onto top of bread until dimples have a little oil in them. Sprinkle flakey salt on top * After focaccias risen for 30 mins, decorate top any way you like with veggies, herbs, meats * Brush veggies & herbs with oil to prevent burning. * Bake at 450ºF for 20-25 mins or until nice and golden. This Focaccia looks almost too pretty to eat! I might never make a slice if I didn’t love bread so much. Kryslin’s (@ kryslinvogt ) creative abilities are impressive! Although making the dough doesn’t intimidate me, turning the toppings into artwork makes me a bit apprehensive. However, as she shows us, it’s not so hard to achieve.

Turning Focaccia Into Art With Vegetables

Day one: Although making dough can be scary, this bread type is generally forgiving. Even better, her Focaccia bread art recipe walks us through each step to ensure success. After making the dough and allowing it to rise, it needs to be refrigerated overnight to help develop the flavors.

Day two: After being removed from the fridge, it needs to warm up for about 30 minutes. Then, you can release some pent-up stress by oiling your fingers and working them into the dough to create those classic dimples. After drizzling with more olive oil and sea salt flakes, it’s time to get the veggies and decorate!

The toppings we can use to decorate are endless! She tells us we can use our favorite vegetables, meats, or herbs. For hers, she used three small, different-colored peppers sliced to form rounds, which she applied as flower petals, with cherry tomatoes in the center. To add more color and intrigue, she also used slices of red onion to create a more tulip-like flower style. For the stems, she adds chives and then sprigs of parsley as the leaves. Before baking, she reminds us to brush olive oil over the vegetables and herbs to ensure they don’t burn when baking. The finished product is truly stunning! Not only will your guest be able to devour this delectable bread, but it will also serve as a fun and unique centerpiece! Which can be a great way to save a few dollars.

If you’d like to try this without taking out your mixer, you can always use store-bought pizza dough instead of making your own from scratch. Oil a pan and stretch out the dough, allowing it to rise slightly for about an hour as it comes to room temperature. Then, add your toppings, brush with oil, and bake.

With the 4th coming up, trying a fruit Focaccia with strawberries and blueberries to make a flag might even be fun. Not only will it be patriotic, but it sure to be a hit with the family!
