The family members of some of England’s players were soaked in beer after angry fans launched cups at the end of the Three Lions’ disappointing stalemate with Slovenia.
Mail Sport understands that a group in the bottom tier of the stadium in Cologne exchanged angry words with those sat above them following the final whistle of the 0-0 draw at which manager Gareth Southgate also had plastic cups hurled at him.
It is not thought that the players' partners and friends were recognised or targeted.
Rather, fans just threw their drinks in the air, drenching some. The group was sat in a general admission of the ground on the opposite side to the tunnel and bench area.
The allocation for family and friends is yet to be handed over for Sunday’s last-16 match against Slovakia in Gelsenkirchen.
Ollie Watkins' partner Ellie Alderson (centre left) was also in the same section where a group of people exchanged angry words with those in the upper tier following the final whistle England fans threw plastic cups towards Gareth Southgate after the tepid draw with Slovenia Jarrod Bowen (pictured left) sits with family and his partner Dani Dyer (right) after the game Ollie Watkins' partner Ellie Alderson (left) takes a selfie with Jordan Pickford's partner Megan Davison (right)
When it lands, England security officials will assess it and see if there is a need to move elsewhere.
At a meeting today between local authorities and UEFA it was decided that, as Mail Sport reported yesterday, low alcohol beer would once again be served at the venue.
The move – which will see low-strength 2.8 per cent beer served in the ground – is unlikely to go down well among supporters.
The instances of beer throwing, including the incident with Southgate, are thought to have played a part.
The FA are expected to receive a fine for the ‘throwing of objects’ by UEFA.
Police expect most England fans will stay in Dusseldorf ahead of the game.
Normal strength beer will be served at a fan zone on a racecourse around 4km from the ground.
On the plastic cups being hurled in his direction at the end of the Slovenia game, Southgate said: 'I understand it. I'm not going to back away from it.
Dani Dyer, partner of Bowen, was seen holding a plastic cup similar to that of the ones that were thrown by supporters John Stones' partner Olivia Naylor (pictured in England's game against Serbia) like Dyer was sat in the section which appeared to have had the beer cups thrown in Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins kisses his partner Ellie Alderson after the draw with Slovenia Adam Wharton pictured with his family who were also in the section where beer was thrown
'The most important thing is we stay with the team. I understand the narrative towards me. That's better for the team than it being towards them but it is creating an unusual environment to operate in.
'I've not seen any other team qualify and receive similar. I'm not going to back away from it.
'I recognise when you have moments like at the end of the game, I'm asking the players to be fearless, I'm not going to back down from going to thank our fans at the end of the game.
'However they feel towards me, I get it, I've been around England for 20 years, I've seen it.
'My job is to guide the team through this and get the very best out of the team and keep this perspective for them.
'I'm very very happy with how they've handled the last few days in particular.'

Dani Dyer, partner of West Ham star, Jarrod Bowen was one of those pictured in the section where fans were pointing to the upper section, appearing to complain about cups that were being thrown.
Love Island star Dyer, 27, is one of the most high profile WAGs and has grown up in a family of West Ham supporters including her EastEnders actor father Danny - so she should be well prepared for the highs and lows the game has to offer.
Also in the same section was Olivia Naylor, the girlfriend of Manchester City defender John Stones.
Naylor is a former beautician and entrepreneur from Manchester, and together they celebrated the birth of their first child last year.
Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins' partner, Ellie Alderson was also sat in the same section but appeared to pay no attention to those in the upper tier.
Ellie, 27, leads a busy life as a mother-of-two and successful businesswoman who runs an interior design brand.

The source said: 'There is a bit of a north south divide but it's not a rivalry and there are no malicious cliques like you had in the past.
It's just a geographical thing because you are more likely to get to know WAGs that live near you.
'All the girls get along really well, and they've enjoyed getting together in Germany.'
England captain Harry Kane's wife Katie, 30, is reportedly not part of any group and is said to 'keep herself to herself,' but maintains friendly relations with all the WAGs.
The family of Adam Wharton was also sat in the section where the beer was thrown, but in the pictures appeared to take no interest in what was being thrown.
