Can the Swifties chill for just a little bit? I'm not a Taylor Swift hater, in fact I actually enjoy a good bit of her music but where I do find a problem is with the legion of chronically online fans that make their entire life's mission to post an incalculable amount about the greatness of their queen-goddess. Yes, there's a sizable portion of these people that are just kids doing what kids do but let's be honest and admit that there's way too many fully grown adults that proudly and loudly proclaim themselves as hard-line, die-hard Swifties. Truthfully, most of it is pretty harmless but on occasion something comes across my feed that finally makes me understand the feelings my grandpa had when people started taking their car to the shop for a simple oil change. I got a random PR-type email earlier today that had some "research" in it about the "Eras Tour Hangover" and almost immediately I forgot about it, but then I saw this X post, which featured a snapshot of the email I'd also received, and felt obligated to do a bit of digging of my own. It reads:
"Over the past few months, multiple Swifties have taken to social media complaining about suffering from hangover-like effects since going to the Eras Tour. These symptoms include exhaustion, aching muscles, sore throats, and headaches, with side effects lasting up to a few days after the concert. Some fans have even recorded suffering from nausea and have had to take multiple days off work to recover. While these physical side effects aren’t anything to worry about, some fans have described the experience as the worst hangover of their lives despite not having a sip of alcohol all night. Others have also likened the experience to post-marathon exhaustion." https://twitter.com/rdassaly/status/1805978200033411494 Surely this has to be some type of joke, right? I'm sure there were a fair number of boozed up people in the audience and they should know plain and simple the cause for their hangover was that 9th White Claw and 3rd Pink Whitney shot at the tailgate. But a quick search online does in fact turn up a whole slew of posts from people complaining about the harrowing experience of an Eras Tour Hangover... https://twitter.com/folkloreamy/status/1805223654751367230 https://twitter.com/scarletIore/status/1805153988876054603 https://twitter.com/whetherweathers/status/1805149493249065304 https://twitter.com/TAKellywriter/status/1804891169358336038 https://twitter.com/exilewillows/status/1804625699208126526 https://twitter.com/tourbunnies/status/1804541550099153332 https://twitter.com/evermoreswiftie/status/1804477997174423671 https://twitter.com/redmldnlghts/status/1801909534753005931 And there were many, many more where that came from... You want the reason for your Eras Tour Hangover? I'll give it to you right here. You put the entirety of your emotional well-being at the mercy of a Taylor Swift concert. In the months, weeks, and days leading up to the show, you fantasized about how magical and life changing it was going to be. You spent untold thousands of dollars on tickets, hotels, Ubers, drinks, food, and outfits then screamed for 3.5 hours in a row. With each song you worked yourself up into a fever pitch because "this was your moment" and she was playing these old songs "just for you". You made a concert the single biggest moment of your life and are now dealing with the realization that all you have from it are some pictures, blurry videos, and a whole lot less money, plus you still have to get your ass out of bed and go to work like the regular person you are. Eras Tour Hangover? Give me a break. If you want a hangover go to a
Koe Wetzel concert and I guarantee you'll be begging to go back to "Our Song" and "New Romantics". The Swiftie fan base wonders, out loud no less, why so many people can't stand them and then cumulatively do something like this time and time again. Maybe try leveling out and living in reality for awhile, I promise you the day after a concert you'll be back to the usual alcohol induced headache instead of some deranged life crisis that can only be solved by doing the whole thing again, this time for more money because you'll have to fly to some far off city. This came out meaner than I wanted it to, I'll admit it, but my goodness people, get yourselves together. Taylor Swift is great, but calling off work for multiple days after seeing a concert is atrociously unacceptable. This world just keeps getting crazier. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkD20ajVxnY
