Lisa Kudrow Is Making This Touching Gesture To Remember 'Friends' Co-Star Matthew Perry

Over ten years, the stars of Friends , aka Lisa Kudrow , Matthew Perry , Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer, made fans cry, laugh, sing, cheer, and everything in between. And, luckily for the actors on the show, their time filming it was just as memorable as for their fans watching.

In fact, Kudrow loved her time so much that she’s always felt like rewatching it. But while she was always embarrassed to do it at first, Perry’s unexpected passing in October pushed her to finally press play.

“Honestly, I wasn’t able to watch it because it’s too embarrassing to watch yourself. But if I make it about Matthew, then that’s OK,” Kudrow told The Hollywood Reporter . “And it’s just celebrating how hilarious he was — and that is what I want to remember [about him].”

As a reminder, Perry passed away from the acute effects of the anesthetic ketamine treatment on October 28. He was 54.

According to Kudrow, who stars in the upcoming series Time Bandits , she’s loved taking the trip down memory lane. “I’m laughing out loud, and everyone is hilarious,” she said. “I’m blown away by Courteney Cox. I’m blown away by Jen. Matthew, obviously, is just uniquely hilarious. No one ever knew that cadence or comedic rhythm before him. Matt LeBlanc is hilarious. And David Schwimmer, too. Sometimes I even laugh at what I’ve done.”

“So yeah, I mean, that’s my own little way of celebrating [the anniversaries], just watching it,” Kudrow added. “But it’s embarrassing. At home, if anyone walks in the room and I’m watching Friends , that’s a horrible look, I think, don’t you?” Knowing how much we all love the show, we wouldn’t judge her one single bit!

Earlier this month, fellow Friends star Aniston got teary-eyed when thinking about rewatching the show. In a sit-down talk with Quinta Brunson for Variety’s Actors on Actors , Aniston was asked what it was like to watch the show now.

Before Aniston replied, she was already holding back tears. “Oh God, don’t make me cry,” Aniston told Brunson. “I won’t, we don’t make each other cry,” Brunson responded calmly. “You’re already crying. Do you want a minute? We don’t have to talk about-“

“I know, I’m sorry,” Aniston said, tilting her head up so the tears wouldn’t roll down her face. “I just started thinking about-,” she said, to which Brunson said, “I know.”

“Are you sure?” the Abbott Elementary creator asked. “We don’t have to talk about it.”

“It’s happy tears,” Aniston replied, patting away her tears with a tissue. “I’m okay.”

Aniston then quickly composed herself and came back to the question. “It’s so strange to even think that it’s 30 years old,” Aniston said of the hit show. “Because I remember the day that it was going to premiere on television, on NBC, me and Matthew Perry were having lunch somewhere, and we knew Lisa was getting her hair colored. So we ran into the hair salon, and I snuck up – she was in the sink, the hair bowl – and I took the nozzle from the guy that was supposed to be doing it and just started washing her hair. It definitely flew out of control, and that was unfortunate. But the excitement we had, it feels like yesterday.”

Knowing that Perry’s co-stars and his millions of fans can always rewatch the show, it’s safe to say all these beautiful memories of him will always be remembered.
