In The Boys Season 4 Episode 5, Ashley helps A-Train by finding him a scapegoat and many fans are curious to know why. Earlier in the season, Ashley was unofficially demoted from her position as the CEO of Vought International after Sister Sage joined the Seven. Meanwhile, A-Train continues to deal with the realization of how narcissistic and diabolical most of the Supes are. The fourth season makes Ashley and A-Train unlikely allies, as both are worried about Homelander’s reaction to what they have done at his apartment.

Here’s why Ashley helped A-Train in The Boys Season 4 Episode 5.

Why did Ashley help A-Train in The Boys Season 4 Episode 5?

In Episode 4, when A-Train breaks into Homelander’s apartment to steal Compound V, he finds Ashley there. Frustrated at how she is being treated, she decides to defecate in Homelander’s toilet and leave it unflushed. They realize that if either of them goes to Homelander and reports what the other person has done, it would imply mutually assured destruction. Accordingly, they agree to hide each other’s indiscretions.

However, when A-Train tells her that he is responsible for the security footage leak, and not Anika, whom Homelander earlier killed, Ashley panics. With Sage looking into the matter, the truth would pop out soon enough. Initially, she refuses to help A-Train, almost convinced that Homelander would forgive her foolish misconduct. However, A-Train seems to imply that Ashley was in Homelander’s apartment with an ulterior motive. This unsettles her enough that she finds A-Train a scapegoat, and it’s none other than Cameron Coleman, who earlier ended his unconventional relationship with Ashley.

Did Ashley steal Compound V from Homelander’s room in The Boys Season 4?,

When Ashley broke into Homelander’s apartment, it’s possible that she harboured another reason beyond petty revenge. She is surrounded by an unstable, brutal group of superpowered psychopaths, who regularly belittle and threaten her. Accordingly, she might have entered Homelander’s apartment with a similar goal as A-Train, albeit wanting Compound V for herself.

Does Ashley have powers in The Boys comics?

Ashley Barrett does not exist in the The Boys comics. However, there is a similar character in Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s work. Jessica “Jess” Bradley is an employee of Vought-American and personal assistant to James Stillwell. She doesn’t have any powers in the comics.
