SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – The Spartanburg Co. Sheriff’s Office has welcomed three new K-9 units to their team.

K-9 Brix is a Belgian Malinois-Shepard mix, and joined the unit in March after completing training with his handler, Corporal BJ Tillinghast.

Brix is trained in numerous disciplines, including narcotics detection, tracking, suspect apprehension and locating evidence. He has already experienced success by locating multiple suspects and recovering narcotics during his short time on duty.

Two Plott Hounds, K-9 Vader and K-9 Rambo, have also recently completed training with the Spartanburg Co. Sheriff’s Office. Vader and Rambo are littermates, donated from a breeder in Georgia.

Vader and Rambo are both used for tracking vulnerable missing persons and locating wanted suspects.

K-9 Vader has been partnered with Deputy 1st Class Luke Graves as his full-time handler and K-9 Rambo is currently being deployed and trained by K-9 Unit supervision.
