Ma$e claims Big L set him and a friend up to get robbed during the peak of their beef in the 1990s.

The Harlem World rapper rehashed the wild story during an episode of It Is What It Is with Cam'ron on Wednesday, June 26. During their conversation at the 52:45 mark, Ma$e began by providing context to their beef, which started after Big L allegedly swiped a few bars and rhyme schemes from him. A few weeks after he checked L, Ma$e said he was walking in Harlem with his friend and former NBA star God Shammgod when they were robbed at gunpoint.

“A Spanish n***a just ran out of nowhere like, ‘Yo, give it up, give it up! I’ma kill both of y’all n***as,'” he said. “He got the gun on [Shammgod]. We played basketball so we communicate with our eyes like, ‘N***a, I’m about to run.’ Shamm got the look like, ‘Ma$e, stop playing.'”

Ma$e said he was wearing the very first Rolex watch he ever copped. The former Bad Boy signee recalled he threw the watch on the ground, which allowed him and Shammgod to get away unharmed.

“When the dude gets locked up, n***as start calling me: ‘Yo, the n***a in here that just took your watch.’ And n***as got crazy on the dude in jail," Ma$e explained. "They beat the n***a so bad he told us who did it. He was like, ‘Yo, Big L did that.’ I was like, ‘Big L? Awwh. It’s over for this n***a.'”

Prior to the robbery, Ma$e said he was at The Tunnel in New York City when Fat Joe approached him with Big L by his side. The Terror Squad founder confirmed the stand-off between him, Ma$e and L during a past interview on Mike Tyson's Hotboxin' Podcast .

“I’m sitting there and, you know, L is my crew so L was like, ‘We will f**k you up right now, we don’t give a f**k, it’s whatever," Joe said. After Big L turned to him and asked, “Right, Joe?" Joe hesitated but nodded. “I don’t think Ma$e ever trusted me again in my life after that. That s**t was foul, man.”
