WATCH: Man steals truck attached to camper with people sleeping inside

BOULDER, Colorado (KMID/KPEJ) – A man and woman sleeping in a camper recently had a frightening experience when they woke up to find that someone had stolen the pickup truck the camper was still attached to, according to Boulder police.

The couple woke up to “the camper in motion” and called for help after the suspect began driving the stolen truck down the road. Officers were able to stop the vehicle after the driver turned onto a dead-end street.

Bodycam footage showed officers handcuffing the suspect who said he was “just test driving” the truck and asking the couple in the camper if they were okay.

The suspect, who was previously arrested three times for motor vehicle theft, had a prior motor vehicle theft conviction. The suspect “was booked into the jail on charges of second-degree motor vehicle theft, two counts of reckless endangerment, vehicular eluding, carrying a concealed knife, and a failure to appear for court on a previous theft case,” police said.
