Opening day for the Southern Ohio Copperheads is always a great way to kick off summer, and this year was no different a couple weeks back. The Copperheads recorded record breaking numbers for opening weekend.

This year’s opening day was the most successful one that the Copperheads have had in the team’s history. A total of 1400 fans filled the seats of Bob Wren to cheer on the Copperheads as they took on the Grand Lake Mariners. The atmosphere was electric and was a great moment for family and friends to get together and cheer on a local team.

The night started off great with fans getting involved in pre game activities as well as in game activities. Director of Sponsorship Activation and In-game Promotions, Kali Osborne commented, “It was such a great experience being able to interact with all the fans that came to support. Being able to host the between inning games is a blast and the kids seemed to have a great time.”

Some of the activities included bumper balls, the FANTAstic runner, trivia, fan of the game, and much more! Being able to host these activities between the innings gives the opportunity for fans to truly engage with the game and be able to make the experience one to remember.

Copperheads games are a great way for residents of the Southeast Ohio region to come together and have an affordable family friendly experience. Copperheads General Manager Roberto Lemus stated, “This is all possible really because of the fans and the community. The Southeast Ohio community is truly special and makes the hard work of the students and everyone involved worth it. The energy they bring at every single home game is what makes our games special! So thank you to everyone who has been with us and who contributed to support the learning lab!”

After the end of the game the Copperheads hosted a fireworks show presented by Hamburg fireworks to kick off summer. Families had the opportunity to sit on the field to watch the show.

The night was a one to remember for the Copperheads organization and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the team’s fans and sponsors.
