An Allen Parish man died Thursday when his motorized bicycle was struck by a vehicle after he allegedly ran a stop sign.

According to Trooper Matt Gaspard, Reginald Hebert, 50, of Kinder was riding a bicycle around 6 p.m. on Botley Cemetery Road, when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of U.S. 165.

Hebert was struck by a northbound vehicle in the right lane of U.S. 165.

The driver of the vehicle took evasive action to avoid the collision, however, Hebert’s bicycle struck the front right side of the vehicle.

Hebert, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the bicycle and received serious injuries.

He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, who was properly restrained, was not injured, according to Gaspard.

    Standard toxicology samples are pending.

    The crash remains under investigation.

Troop D has investigated seven fatal crashes resulting in seven fatalities this year.
