Senior Farmers Market Coupon distribution events coming up

CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. ( WETM ) – The Chemung County Department of Aging and Long-Term Care will hold multiple Senior Farmers Market Coupon distribution events in July and August for eligible seniors.
To promote local farmers and encourage a healthy community, County Executive Chris Moss announced that coupon booklets will be provided to all seniors who meet the age and income requirements to buy fresh fruit and vegetables from local markets. Booklets have a $25 value, with each coupon being $5 each.
To be eligible for a booklet, you must be a New York resident who is 60 years old or older and has not received an SFMNP coupon booklet from another location this year. You also must have a monthly income that is at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines:
1 person – $2,322/month
2 people – $3,152/month
3 people – $3,981/month
The booklets must be picked up by the eligible senior or a designated Proxy by completing a Proxy form and Statement of Eligibility in advance. A Power of Attorney may also pick up a booklet for an eligible senior after presenting valid POA papers.
