Things aren’t quite what they used to be at Gillette Stadium with the New England Patriots, and that’s putting it mildly. Except you wouldn’t know that from the price to get in and see just how different things are now.

According to Boardroom, a sports business venture launched by Kevin Durant , the cost for a family of four to attend a Patriots game is the sixth-highest in the NFL. This includes four of the cheapest tickets, parking, hot dogs and drinks for all. That represents an increase from two years ago when the Patriots were the 10th-most expensive football day for a family of four in the NFL.

While everything is more expensive everywhere these days, price hikes and cost per attendee increases usually come with an increase in both on-field success and demand from the fans. While the Pats still have a waiting list for season tickets after their unprecedented dynastic run, there have been times in recent years where as the team struggles the fans haven’t exactly packed “The Razor”.

One might wonder how the response from the fans will be, as far as attendance and revenue this season, given the high degree of turnover on the team from the executive level to the coaching boxes all the way to the playing field. This is a very new New England Patriots (insert your own reference to a collaborative environment or the removal of silos here).

Interest should be piqued early on, but if the team struggles during their rebuild once again, then a discussion might be had about paying a top-six overall price for a team that has the 27th-ranked roster (according to ESPN) and the 31st overall squad (according to PFT).

Rebuilds aren’t supposed to come with too much pressure early on, especially after so much success. But this is New England. These are the Patriots. And the fans, well, they have an appetite for football. And apparently high priced sodas, hot dogs and beers. How long they maintain that appetite remains to be seen.
