LEE COUNTY, Ill. (WTVO) — The Lee County Sheriff’s Office released a new smartphone app to help residents in need.

Sheriff Clay Whelan announced the app on Friday. The app will provide county residents with quick access to items of public interest.

The app offers a long list of services including searchable inmate records, weather service alerts, the ability to pay traffic fines and quick ways to contact police.

Over 90% of the US population owns a smartphone, so app developers said it is crucial to utilize them for public safety.

The app is free and available on Apple and Android. You can find it by searching “Lee County Sheriff” on Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store.
