SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Flood recovery efforts in several communities continued Friday and KELOLAND’s Dan Santella had a chance to sit down with Gov. Kristi Noem in a one-on-one interview in Pierre about the state’s response.

Noem stressed the importance for people to support the heavy-impacted areas.

“I think it’s still important for people to remember that they can go out and continue to help these communities,” Noem said Friday. “We have many communities that have been impacted. Vermillion is dealing with a wastewater treatment and a sewage system that they’re dealing with, so we’re working with them. We also have been working with Yankton and on some issues that they’re having, Canton.”

Santella’s full report with Noem, including the decision to not deploy the National Guard and how people can help those impacted, will be online and on-air Friday. You can view the full interview in the video attached above.
