What is the original Peach State?

Ask almost anyone and the answer you would get would probably be Georgia. Others may say it's South Carolina.

Both would be wrong. The first Peach State is the First State and Delaware has a very peachy history.

    What is Delaware's state flower?

On May 9, 1895, the peach blossom was adopted as the floral emblem of the State of Delaware and was added to the Delaware Code by the Delaware General Assembly on June 13, 1955.

The flower was chosen because of the peach's importance to Delaware's agriculture history. According to Delaware.gov, the peach was introduced to Delaware in Colonial times and expanded as an industry in the nineteenth century. Delaware, at its peak, was shipping 6 million baskets of peaches to market in 1875. The state was the country's leading producer of peaches for part of the nineteenth century.
