Love Island 's Bergie confessed that producers guide the direction of the show with some solid strategy.

If an islander leaves the show, it could jeopardize the entire plot that has been brewing up, so they need to keep tabs on who might be thinking of leaving. Bergie explained: "There were definitely people who were trying to self eliminate and then they get talked into staying whether its other people or production they’re like, 'Please stay. This is a show we need you to keep coming like there’s going to be a story arc to this.'"

While the producers can't force them there against their own will, they can definitely beg them. However, Bergie also dished that we'll never know what really happened behind the scenes will never be disclosed. "So whether its the people in the villa that convince [ Rob ] to stay or production, we’ll never know and I’m sure he’s not allowed to talk about it," he said.

The reality television show isn't scripted, per se, but as the cards start to unfold, they're definitely feening for some good drama to put on people's television screens. If something doesn't follow the vision, like self-elimination "it could ruin the whole storyline of what they're trying to build up," said Berige.

In the current season, producers introduced a twist to the show. Bergie was surprised when the islanders were asked to eliminate someone within their own gender. The girls elected to kick Andrea while the guys gave Hakeem the boot.

Bergie added: "It’s always the other gender picking who they want to keep in the villa. I don’t know if that was strategic on productions part or what the mindset was behind that."

The shakeup was massive and left some bombshell drama in its wake. After all, Andrea was definitely cozying up with Rob who was considering leaving with her. However, as Bergie pointed out, he stayed on the show.

At first, it seemed like he might be looking to pursue Leah which would give him a reason to hang around, but that theory is slowly falling apart. Fans think that Rob has been pretty disengaged from Leah who is adamantly trying to win him over. He also doesn't seem to trust her at all.
