At present, Liverpool has walked away from any deal after being offered the chance to bid, because it is not interested in including Jarell Quansah in any deal ( BBC ). But The Guardian reports that the Reds retain an interest in Gordon, which makes his interaction with Alexander-Arnold all the more interesting.
Conor Coady recently revealed that Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson used to "man-mark" Jude Bellingham on England duty, seeking to persuade him to sign for Liverpool. It's only natural to wonder whether something similar is going on now.
"Hendo and Trent tried with Jude," Coady told Mark Chapman. "At the World Cup, 100 per cent yeah. They man-marked him! They man-marked the life out of him. I think them two tried it, and to be fair you would, wouldn't you.
"Oh it was [every meal time]. And they were either side of him. They were sat, one was one side, one was the other. And they'd be talking about how good Liverpool is, Klopp is, and all this sort of stuff, and we'd all be sat there having something to eat, listening to them."
Now, Alexander-Arnold has been spotted in the ear of Gordon. The two Scousers had already been seen getting on well in the camp, but Liverpool fans honed in on the pair seemingly interacting in some of the latest training footage.
"Trentchive" on X (formerly Twitter) shared a short clip from a recent England session. Gordon puts an arm around Alexander-Arnold, with the pair then exchanging a few words during a stretching exercise.
Of course, everyone quickly had the same thing to say: "Agent Trent." Although going off some of Gordon's previous comments , he wouldn't need too much convincing to join if Liverpool came in with an offer.
Liverpool.com says: This is quite an exciting transfer development. It remains to be seen if it goes anywhere, and including Quansah is undoubtedly a non-starter, but Gordon is a great player.
His arrival would certainly leave the attack looking a little heavy on the left, but the future of Luis Diaz remains uncertain, and any of the attackers would theoretically have the quality to switch over and be an option on the right. His age also makes him one for the future.
Whether Alexander-Arnold was talking up a transfer, only he and Gordon (and perhaps one or two of the others in the England camp) know for sure. But their interactions in Germany will now be watched with far more scrutiny.
